First up for review today is the recently released Thai Police Suspense/ Thriller, “Soul’s Code”….. Neko scored herself a bit of luck when this one was released in Thailand complete with the ever so important feature of English subtitling. With a promise of gritty forensic action ala “CSI” and the added goodness of creepy ghost story elements thrown in, how could I go wrong? Yep… and it gave me the perfect excuse to pick up some Thai pop CD’s I’d been eyeing too…. Yay!!
The quick Thai synopsis for it reads: “When a murdered body of a high school girl is found naked with a strange mark on her forehead, which is to prevent the vengeance of her spirit, Detective Khan from DSI (Department of Special Investigations) is assigned to investigate the case. The dead girl is brought to Dr. Nicha at CIFS in Bangkok to find more clues and identify the body. Meanwhile, C, a former teenager’s heartthrob is involved in this case when he begins to search for his lost ex-girlfriend. When the ghost is trying to connect to the living, Detective Khan starts to believe in something supernatural that leads him to the truth.”
Do vengeful ghosts and modern cops make for a good story mix? Well let’s all “Read On” and find out, shall we?

Work was interrupted yesterday late in my shift by one of those crazy “Wrath of the Gods” kind of severe thundershowers that ended up knocking down a tree that smashed a power transformer to sparking bits right down the street from the restaurant. You know, the sort of damage you usually see in all those disaster movies right before the heroine gets swept away by some terrible raging torrent. Or blown away to Oz….
Your Favorite Catgirl was spared any of that, but we did have to close up early…. no power at all. I ended up stuck at work in the dark too for about an hour until the storm passed and the live wires and debris were cleared away. Half our town was without lights and there were bits of stuff down everywhere….. Mother Nature can real have some serious PMS at times…..
However, there is an upside…. I’m off work today while a brand spanking new pole and transformer get installed. Nice after the busy time I had last week. I had power at the apartment last evening, but no cable TV, so it actually forced me to watch a couple of movies….. the Korean Suspense film “Black House” and the Thai Ghost/ Cop movie “Soul’s Code”… and that means a review…maybe even two…today.
Who knows? I’m in a particularly goofy mood this morning……(Watch out!!)
