Now you all know how much your Favorite Catgirl Princess thrives on trashy, tasteless, exploitative Asian cinema so when “The Girls Rebel Force of Competitive Swimmers” popped up on DVD of course Neko-chan had to snatch it up immediately.

Japanese schoolgirls…. zombies….. gore…. evil villains with unwholesome plans for World Domination……everything this nutty Catgirl needs for a baaad, baaad evening of movie viewing.

At least you would think so…..

It’s finally out, and naturally your favorite Catgirl Princess had to be ready to snatch up a copy of “Kataude Mashin Gâru” aka “The Machine Girl” for her very own as soon as possible. This one has been on my list for about as long as I’ve heard of it, so it’s nice to finally have it in my sweaty lil’ paws……

So is writer/ director Noboru Iguchi’s revenge fest up to the challenge? Will it be the “Mother of All Bloodbaths” or just a sad trickle of pathetic nonsense?

Well….the synopsis sounds promising: “Ami (Minase Yashiro, in her film debut) is a tough but otherwise average high school girl, trying to lead a normal life. Her world comes crashing down when her brother and his friend are killed by ruthless bullies. As Ami tracks down the ringleader, she is surprised to discover the bullies’ association with a sinister ninja yakuza family. When she goes after her revenge, she soon finds herself in over her head and minus her left arm. Barely surviving, Ami escapes and seeks out shelter from two kindly garage mechanics. They take pity on her, fitting her with a high-powered machine gun where her arm used to be. She then teams up with the chainsaw-wielding mother (Asami) of her brother’s slain friend and together they unleash an unholy, non-stop, over-the-top kill fest against the equally creative machinery (drill bra, flying guillotine) of their relentless ninja enemies.”

Mmmmmm….Mini-guns and violent schoolgirls…..Yakuzas AND Ninjas…..Chainsaws….drill bras (say What?)…and one of the old favorites, the Flying Guillotine…..all in one movie, how can we go wrong?

But then Neko-Chan has been tempted into watching some really bad movies before……..but the good people at Tokyo Shock rarely disappoint me so lets give it a try, shall we? Read on!! (more…)

It’s almost the end of the month, and I know I’ve fallen short of my goal, but here’s another review for you all, this time the Japanese horror film “Mizuchi” aka “Death Water”….straight from my new all-region Singapore edition of the film…..

The synopsis for it reads: “Something is amiss in the Kanto region. As earthquakes rock the area, journalist Togakure Kyoko (Igawa Haruka) investigates a series of mysterious suicides. In all the cases, the victims showed symptoms of delusion and unnatural thirst and bore out their own eyes before killing themselves. One of the dead, professor Morikawa (Yanagi Yurei), left a message warning of “death water”, which he had been studying prior to his death. Kyoko thinks that a problem with the water supply is somehow causing these deaths, a suggestion that her ex-husband Yuichi (Watabe Atsuro) dismisses until he too starts showing symptoms. Earthquakes, death water, a recently discovered archaeological ruin - everything seems to be connected somehow, but exactly what is behind this epidemic of suicides? The cause may be even more shocking than the consequences…..”

Sounds good eh?…. I thought so too, as the whole eye gouging thingee touches upon a decidedly personal phobia of mine. Hehehehe. But if you want to know more, you’re gonna have to “Read On”……

Today it’s off to Japan, land of the rising sun for our next lil’ fright fest, “Kowai Onna” aka “Unholy Woman”. However, Neko-chan had to get this one out of Taiwan… as the Japanese release was without the ever so important english subs I need and love…….

Are the Japanese ready to scare the beejeebits outta this girl?
